RACHEL RILEY sent Twitter wild yesterday with promise to host Countdown NAKED if England win the World Cup - before cruelly dashing excited fans' hopes.
The Countdown star, 32, shared an image of herself next to a board which contained a message declaring she would present the hit Channel 4 show in the nude if Gareth Southgate’s men claim glory in Russia.
Naturally, her 568,000 Twitter followers were whipped into a frenzy after the snap went viral.
But Riley wrote: “This is doing the rounds. Of course it’s photoshopped. It was actually @Nick_Hewer who said this! #ComeOnEngland.”
But that did not stop some from trying to strike a compromise with the keen footy supporter, who has won a legion of admirers since taking over from Rear of the Year winner Carol Vorderman on Countdown a decade ago.

One Twitter user wrote: “OK, let’s compromise… England win, and you’ll do the show in an England bikini?”
Another said: “One from the bottom and two from the top please,” while another tried to convince her by saying: “Maybe have more viewers than the England - Tunisia game.”
Historian and TV consultant Greg Jenner also joined in, commenting: “Nick’s behind a desk. For all we know, he does every show naked from the waist down!”
To which Riley responded: “Mathematician’s logic combined with historian’s scepticism. I can confirm he doesn’t. Not since the ‘incident’ anyway.”
