POPEYES has called out its competitors in a new campaign, and customers need punchy codes to take advantage of the deal.
The famed New Orleans-founded chain brought wings to its array of chicken offerings permanently last month.
Five different flavor options are offered to customers, including Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, Ghost Pepper, Sweet N' Spicy, and Honey BBQ, per Today.
Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes North America, said the company had tested wing options for a limited time throughout 2023 in a press release on November 22.
He claimed two flavors were so successful in the test that the brand decided to make them a staple along with three other options.
"At Popeyes, we like to challenge the status quo and are consistently redefining what’s expected from fast food brands,” Siddiqui noted.

"Ghost Pepper Wings were an overnight success, followed by the addition of Sweet ‘N Spicy wings, our best performing product since the infamous Chicken Sandwich."

DISSCOUNT DEALS
Now the company is trying to attract more customers to try the recently added wings with "DISScount" deals through a limited-time promotion where free wings are a possibility, per USA Today.
The free wings are obtained through codes that subtly throw shade at competitors like Chick-fil-A and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Some of the promo codes, which can be used on the Popeyes website or mobile application with the purchase of $10 or more, include phrases like "OPENSUNDAY," poking fun at Chick-fil-A's widely known Sunday closures.
Others read "NOTTHATWILD" for Buffalo Wild Wings and a few more unrelated codes like "STOPWINGS" and "ONLY1WINGSFLVR."
Popeyes is even going as far as to have employees stand outside competitor locations holding up signs with the codes and information on the free six-piece wing deal.
The "DISScount" campaign is supposed to be "a nudge in the right direction" for customers, according to what the chain told USA Today.
The brand said it's "prompting consumers to reconsider" their wing and chicken choices and instead "upgrade to Popeyes."
Buying any menu items worth $10 or more and applying the code for a free 6-piece wing meal will only work through the mobile application and website, not in person.
Popeyes fans can also take advantage of another wing deal online outside of the "DISScount" promotion, as a purchase of a 6-piece wing meal will get another for just an additional dollar excluding taxes and fees.

The buy-one-get-one-for-one-dollar deal only lasts through December 11 and can be used on delivery orders, according to an announcement from the chain.
Popeyes seems to be heavily invested in its wing offerings, something Amy Alarcon, head chef and vice president of culinary innovation, said her team had been working on for at least three years.
“This is something my team has been working on for three years, and we took our time to get it right,” she said in a November press release.
“Ghost Pepper has become a heavy hitter in our arsenal of products, and in marrying that with our Wings we knew we had something special."
Alacron continued: “Now, we’ve found ways to add flavors on top for a variety of tastes our guests are sure to love."
